SC serves notice to PM Imran Khan on Ayaz Sadiq's petition

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court Thursday served notices to Prime Minister Imran Khan and therefore the National information and Registration Authority (NADRA) within the case of de-seating ex-National Assembly speaker Ayaz Sadiq.

"If folks have given you votes, what problems does one have with the perception that has been created?" the CJP asked. At this, Justice Mazhar told the PML-N leader that if he wished to pursue a defamation case, he would need to file it severally.


"A defamation case has been happening for the last many years [...] the problem at hand is my dignity and respect — and that i wish nothing else from Imran Khan," the ex-speaker aforesaid.




Justice Mazhar told the petitioner that the defamation law was "very clear" which if he feels he was a victim of defamation, he might file a case during this regard.


"This may be a political matter," Sadiq responded, adding that he had solely approached the court to prove his innocence which he failed to hide behind a keep order from the SC. "I oppose the elections and that i won."


Later within the proceedings, the jurist assured Sadiq that his action at law would ne'er visit waste, as he told the ex-speaker that the Election Act, 2017, was a decent law which the ECP was doing exceptional work.


The CJP conjointly aforesaid that a judgment would be created once hearing arguments from the prime minister and NADRA, as he adjourned the case for associate degree indefinite amount.
